A day in the life of On The Edge Events
If you’ve ever wondered what happens before the race village goes up and the first competitor rolls through, there’s plenty going on behind the scenes.
Running On The Edge Events means wearing a few different hats. Some days are about planning courses, working with venues and answering entry questions. Others involve checking trails, organising equipment, coordinating the crew and getting everything ready for race weekend.
Alongside the events, I also manage Karabe Mountain Bike Park, so there’s always something happening.
When event day arrives, it takes a team. Registration, parking, course marshals, timing and the people helping competitors along the way all play a part. Our OTEE Crew help bring those pieces together.
Then comes the bit we do it for: people getting outdoors, challenging themselves and enjoying the trails. It might be a first race, a hard-earned finish or simply a great day with mates.
Once the racing finishes, there’s still packing up, results and preparation for what comes next.
It can get full-on, but seeing the community come together makes the work worthwhile.
